Output device and his types define and pictures.

WHAT IS OUTPUT DEVICE? DIFFERENT TYPES OF OUTPUT DEVICES .

             OUTPUT DEVICE

We use output devices to display or print the data after processing.

The output device is used to view or receive the result received from the CPU.  Output device presents the output in the form of hard copy or soft copy.  Soft copy is the output that the user sees on the computer monitor or is heard in the speaker.  Whereas hard copy is the output that the user receives on paper.

Following are some of the major output devices that present the output in the form of hard copy or soft copy.

MONITOR

It is the most important output device.  The combination of the keyboard and monitor is called as Video Display Unit .  The Monitor is divided into 25 rows and 80 columns .  The screen is made of several small dots, which are called as pixels.  The more the number of pixels the more is the resolution of the monitor.

The clarity of a picture depends on three facts.

(i) Resolution of Screen

(ii) Dot Pitch

(iii) Refresh Rate

Types of Monitor

■ CRT Display

CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube .  The main components of a CRT terminal are the electron gun , the electron beam controlled by an electromagnetic field and a phosphor coated display screen .  The electron gun emits an electron beam which is directed toward the phosphor coated display by electromagnetic field in order to create in image .  The quality of display is indicated by the resolution of the display device.  Resolution is determined by the number of pixels horizontally and vertically.  Typical resolution in graphic display resolution in graphic display range from ( 640 x 480 ) pixels to ( 1024 x 768 pixels .

There are different types of CRT displays

  • CGA ( Color Graphics Adapter )
  • MGA ( Monochrome Display Adapter )
  • HGA ( Hercules Graphics Adapter )
  • EGA ( Enhanced Graphics Adapter )
  • VGA ( Video Graphics Adapter )
  • SVGA ( Super VGA )
  • Liquid Crystal

■ LCD (Liquid Crystal Display )

LCD is a type of commonly used output device.  It is a much lighter but costlier output device than a CRT.  It is used in laptops, notebooks, personal computers, digital watches, etc.  LCD has two plates.  A special type of liquid is filled between these plates.  When light comes out from behind the plate, the fluid inside the plates aligns and glows, giving the picture visible.

■ LED(Liquid / Light Emitted Diode)

This monitor is used like a television in homes nowadays.  Small LEDs (Light Emitted Diodes) are installed inside it.  When electric current passes through these LEDs, these LEDs start glowing and the picture appears on the screen of the LED.

■ 3D monitors

3D monitors use  to view the output in three dimensions ( Three Dimension - 3D)

TFT (Thin Film Transistor )

TFT consists of one to four transistors to control a pixel.  These transistors make the screen much brighter, brighter and more colorful than the passive matrix.  TFT is an output device capable of displaying an expensive but high quality picture compared to other monitors.

                           Printer

Printers are a type of output device.  It is used by the computer to print the received data and information on a paper.  Can print black and white as well as color document.  The speed of a printer is measured in Character Per Second - CPS , Line Per Minute - LPM , and Pages per minute ( Pages - Minute - PPM ).  The quality of a printer is measured in Dots Per Inch - DPI.

Types Of Printer

The printer is divided into two parts

  • Impact  Printer
  • Non - Impact Printer

■ Impact Printer

This printer works like a typewriter.  In this there are small pins or hammers to print letters.  As soon as the letters are made on these pins, the pins are printed with ink on the ribbon and then on the paper, due to which the letters are printed on the paper.  Impact Printer can print one character or one line at a time.  Those printers are cheaper than other printers and make more noise during printing, so their use is less.

Types of Impact printers

Dot Matrix Printers

One of the pins in STC matrix printer  There is a line, which strikes the ribbon on the upper Matrix end of the paper.  When the pin strikes the ribbon, a group of dots form a   It falls on the paper in the form of metrics, from which letters or pictures are printed, this type of printer is also called pin printer.  Dot matrix printer prints only one character at a time.

● Daisy wheel

Daisy wheel printers have character printing like typewriters.  It prints higher resolution than hot matrix printer and its output is more reliable than dot matrix printer.

Line Printers

This type of printer prints a whole line at a time.

 ● Drum Printers

These are a type of line printer in which a cylindrical drum is continuously rotating. In this drum the letters are embossed. Between the drum and the paper, an ink is placed.  Ribbon is the place where the letter is to be printed, at that place the hammer strikes the ribbon along with the paper. When the ribbon is struck, the reen exerts pressure on the letter in the drum, due to which the letter is printed on the paper .

Non  impact Printer

These printers do not strike the paper, but leave a spray of ink on the paper to print letters or pictures. Non-impact printers use electrostatic chemicals and inkjet technology in printing.

Types of Non-impact printers

● Inkjet Printer

Inkjet printer is printed by spraying ink on paper by putting small dots.  their printing speed.  pages per minute.  Their printing quality is also good.  These can be made up of letters and pictures in a variety of colors.  For these measurements, A4 size paper is used.

● Thermal Printer

It uses heat to print letters on paper.  By means of heat, the ink is melted and left on the paper, from which letters or pictures are printed.  A fax machine is also a type of thermal printer.

● Laser Printer

Laser Printer ( High Quality ) Characters and pictures are printed by laser printer. They can print different types of laser printers and characters of different styles with the help of laser rays.

 ● Electro magnetic printer

Electro magnetic printers or electro photographic printers print at a very high speed. These printers come under the category of page printers (which print the entire page at a time). These printers can print a document within a minute.  Can print 20000 lines inside i.e. can print at the rate of 250 pages per minute. It was developed through paper copier technology.

● Electro Static Printer

This printer is generally used in large format  It is used for key printing. It is mostly used in large printing presses, because their speed is very fast and the cost of printing is low.

 Plotters

Plotters are used to print large pictures on paper.  The drawing on this device is made with the help of a needle or pen.  An electric motor is used to move the paper in the plotter.  Therefore, very large paper can be used in this.  It is mainly used for graphic images.

Plotter is an output device, which is used for large drawing or drawing such as construction plans, blue print of mechanical objects, AUTOCAD, CAD / CAM etc.  In this, writing tools like pen, pencil, marker etc. are used to make drawings.

The Plotter is used to read and observe the values for the specific period.  The plotter can be flat bed and Drum Plotter.  It is widely used in earthquake measurements.

There are mainly two types of plotters

 (i) Flat Bed Plotter
(ii) Drum Plotter.

●Drum  Plotter

It is an output device in which pens are used, which move to draw shapes on the surface of the paper.  The paper is mounted on a drum, which moves forward.  The pen is controlled by the computer.  This plotter seems to work like a mechanical artist, as soon as the colors are selected in it, it looks adorable.  Many pen plotters have fiber tipped pens.  If high quality is required, technical drafting pen is used.  The speed of a pen is equal to one-thousandth of an inch.  In many color plotters, four or more pen plotters produce a complete picture at a rate of a few inches per second.

●Flatbed Plotter

Flatbed Plotter In this plotter, the paper is placed in a stationary position on a bed or tray. A pen is mounted on one arm (am) which moves the paper up and down (Y-A right) by the motor.  - The left (x-axis) is moved. The computer controls the pen in the directions of the XY axis and draws the figure.

 Headphones

This device can be worn like a belt on the head, so that both the speakers come above the human ear.  Therefore, its sound can only be heard by the person wearing it.  some head phone there is also a mic with it, so that along with listening, you can talk as well.  This equipment is often used by telephone operators, call center operators, commentators, etc.  It is also known as stereo headphone or head set.

Projector

A projector is an output device that can take images generated by a computer and displays them onto a screen, wall, or other surface.  The surface projected onto is usually large, flat, and lightly colored.  For example you could use a projector to show a presentation on a large screen so that everyone in the room can see it .  Projectors can produce either still ( slides ) or moving images , videos .

They are used for the following: To display a PowerPoint presentation at a business meeting.  To teach a class in school.  Project a TV or computer with a movie playing to a large screen.  To give a demo of a product or service.
